for the reproducible and parallel collection of airborne particles on membrane filters.

 Fields of application

The MPSS 8-channel multiple sample collection system is used for the reproducible and parallel collection of airborne particles on membrane filters. The collected substances can be used, for example, to perform interlaboratory tests in metal analysis, soot or Quartz.

The multiple sample collection system is a subsystem, as the basic equipment is delivered without Total Dust Collectors and without vacuum system. On request, these parts can be offered.

How it works

The sample collection system is of 8-channel design, each channel is operated with a separate critical nozzle. The MPSS 8-channel is equipped with a sample head holder, pressure gauge, shut-off valve, electrical system and vacuum connection. The sample head holder is used to hold the Total Dust Collectors. The electrical system is equipped with a timer that can selectively turn the shut-off valve on and off. The shut-off valve is normally open and allows critical nozzles to be checked independently of a timer program. Intuitive and freely programmable timers allow the setting of a pre-run and collection time. The sample collection system can be synchronized with other collection systems of the same type using a 24 V DC voltage signal, i.e. by starting one system, any number of other devices can be started. The pressure gauge is used to check the applied negative pressure. The system is connected to an external vacuum system by means of a hose coupling.

Typical workflow for the production of loaded filter materials

- The filters to be loaded are installed in the filter holders.

- The sample collection system is set up in a suitable exposure room, no airborne particles are present there yet.

- The sample collection system is started; if there are several systems, they are started simultaneously by synchronization: During the run-up time, the valves remain closed and the personnel leave the exposure room.

- The synthesis of the airborne particles is started.

- The timer program opens all valves after the expiration of the lead time, the filters are loaded.

- The timer program closes all valves after the collection time has elapsed.

- The particle generation is stopped, the exposure chamber is flushed particle-free.

- The fully loaded filters are collected.
